USING THE BALANCED SCORECARD TO ALIGN REED INTEGRATION, INC.

At Reed, we practice what we preach. As part of our annual update to our business plan where we develop and update the strategic components of our balanced scorecard system, the system is assembled and communicated throughout the company.

The lower figure at left shows a graphical representation of how key components of a finished scorecard system are connected together to form a strategic plan for moving Reed to a higher level of performance. This is our strategy map, which is used to show how value is created for our customers, strategic objectives to describe what needs to be accomplished to produce value, what performance measures will be used to measure progress against targets, and what strategic initiatives have been identified to make strategy actionable and operational.

Our expertise in portfolio – program – project management is then utilized to cascade and implement project initiatives that are aligned with the mission and vision of the company.

When joining Reed, as part of our strategic communication and alignment process, each new employee is briefed on what it means to be part of our team, and then given a laminated 5” X 7” copy that contains our Mission and Values on one side, and our strategy map on the other. And throughout the year, strategic reviews are held to review and update status on each of their strategically aligned projects to ensure we are meeting our goals and objectives for our customers and ourselves.
